The fenestration industry is the epitome of low-quality economy at low price environment seen in China over all these years. The unhealthy running pattern has far-reaching negative influence on the industry. Window, doors and curtain wall enterprises pay little or no attention to research and development but are keen on price competition. Neither house developers nor users care much about the quality of window and doors. The result is worse quality and lower prices, a vicious cycle in the making. Supply-side reform is not a quick cure for the malfunctioning fenestration industry, but the best solution in the long term.
Market demand is always the most effective driver to the advancement of an industry and the growth of an economy. The post-1970s, post-1980s and even the post-1990s, who tend to pursue a quality life and have a broad vision, are taking center stage of the society and are bound to generate upmarket demand. In the context of the stagnant construction market, expanding replacement demand from individual consumers is fostering a vibrant retail market. House developers will be forced to attach more importance to the quality of windows, doors and construction finally. Supply-side reform poses a challenge, as well as an opportunity to every fenestration enterprise.
In such a market environment, we see the concept of System windows and doors spreading across the industry and the rise and reign of high-performance windows and doors that are fire-proof, theft-proof and intelligent. Assembled type and industrialization are attracting more attention than ever. BIM system is increasingly applied to super-high and complex buildings. Supply-side reform is given strategic significance by market-sensitive enterprises.
Fenestration Days China (FDC), as a top-class technical exchange platform in Asia, has been committed to setting the trends of fenestration technologies in Asia and to coming up with topics and contents that can inspire industry players to make innovations and work out solutions. FDC 2016 will highlight the theme of Minds on Changes ● Path of Reform on the Supply Side for Fenestration Industry and run four sessions, An Insight into System Windows and Doors, High-performance Windows & Doors and Pleasant Space to Live in, Curtain Wall Case Study, and Parameter and Smart Oriented Curtain Wall. Experts from China, Germany, Australia, Japan and France have been invited to discuss and suggest changes and development routes that may work for Chinese fenestration enterprises.
Session I An Insight into System Windows and Doors
It has been nearly two decades since the
concept of System was introduced into China in the 1990s. System began to reign
over the fenestration industry in 2012 and to date there is almost no window or
door that is not in a System. So, what is System? What kind of doors and
windows qualify as System? What is the difference between System windows and
doors and windows and doors System? What does a system development mode well
suited to the Chinese market look like? General Technical Requirements for
System windows and doors are seeking approval to become national standards
after years of research. This session will allow every audience present to
steal a march and get an insight into System windows and doors prior to the
implementation of the new standards. During this session, Hongtao Wang,
President of China Academy Of Building Research,
will Analysis on general technical specification for systematized doors and windows. Joune Liu from Technoform Bautec (Suzhou) Thermal Insulation Materials
Co., Ltd will elaborate on the industrie 4.0 and impact of industrie 4.0 on doors and windows company systematic operation mode. Gang Liu from YKK (China) Investment Co., Ltd will introduce the
advantages of system doors and windows in the context of housing industrialization. Yi
Zhong from Broad Homes Industrial International Co., Ltd. is going to introduction to precast concrete doors and windows. Finally, Michael Spencer from Dowell
Windows will give a speech on the subject of more is less.
Session II High-Performance Windows & Doors and Pleasant Space to Live in
National Development and Reform Commission
and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the PRC released
City Climate Change Adaptation Initiative on 4 February 2016, with a view to
enhance climate change adaptation of urban buildings and make cities a more
pleasant place to live in. More and more consumers have begun to ask how to
improve their indoor environment and how to make their homes more intelligent.
There is growing demand for windows and doors that can create pleasant space to
live in. How to integrate energy-efficient, fireproof and intelligent openings
into high-performance windows and doors? How do house developers look at the
future of fenestration against the backdrop of prevailing intelligent
buildings? During this session,Chenglong Wan from China Academy Of Building Research will probe into indoor comfort and high performance windows and doors design. Mike Yang from MOMA will talk
about fenestration intelligence.James Chen from Covestro Polymers (China) Co., Ltd. will
give a speech on market driven window material innovation. Jie Ren from Beijing
JIAYU Door Window and Curtain Wall Joint-Stock Co., Ltd will introduce fire resistant integrity for building windows and doors. Finally, Dahai
Sun from Shanghai Yaohua Pilkington Glass Group Co., Ltd. will share his
knowledge of the application of green energy-saving glass in the windows and doors.
Session III Curtain Wall Case
NUO Hotel in Beijing is the first ultra-luxury five-star hotel of a Chinese brand. It was designed, from the outset, in compliance with the requirements of and has been awarded a LEED Gold Certification from the U.S Green Building Council. In the meantime, the most demanding international specifications have been satisfied to materialize the philosophy of low carbon and intelligence as much as possible. NUO Hotel was designed by Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (Group) Co., Ltd, using curtain walls produced by SCHÜCO International KG, a Germany-based company. Jangho Group Company Limited is the construction contractor. What kind of sparks was hit out when a top-notch design team and a first-class construction team joined hands to work on such a cutting-edge project? Members of the architectural design, curtain wall design and construction teams of NUO Hotel will be invited to the session to share their exciting and inspiring knowledge and experience.
Session IV Parameter and Smart Oriented
The demand for building energy efficiency
has stimulated upgrade and technical innovations of curtain walls, the outer
skin of modern buildings. The use of BIM system has catalyzed radical changes
in the fenestration industry. Meanwhile, as the demographic dividend tapers
off, industrialization supersedes labor-intensive production and Architectural
Industrialization is an unavoidable topic speaking of the future development of
the industry. When houses are being built in a way like automobile
manufacturing, how to adapt doors, windows and curtain walls accordingly?
During this session, Meng Genbaoligao from CNYD will share his understanding of
the road of curtain wall towards intelligence. Yuqi Liu from Rtw-L- Tianjin Engineering Management Consulting Co., Ltd will introduce BIM and the application of multimedia technology in the case of curtain wall engineering management. Fescaj Wang from East China Architectural Design & Research
Institute is going to discussion on contemporary architectural skin design techniques from the perspective of technical aesthetics. Ren Jiang from
China Academy Of Building Research will present a Curtain Wall Bim Information Extraction And Model Simulation. Finally, Stefan
Kling from HUECK GMBH & CO. KG will give a speech on smart solutions for
facade design and construction.
